14-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

Louisiana State Law requires any individual 18 years of age or older that has never held a driver’s license to complete and pass a 14-hour pre-licensing course. The course consists of 6 hours of classroom instruction, OMV knowledge test, and 8 hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) instruction.

The one-day classroom instruction is held from 8am to 2:30pm and OMV knowledge test is administered after completion of classroom instruction (we usually recommend for the students to plan to be there until 4pm).
*Students must obtain their T.I.P. (temporary instruction permit) from the Office of Motor Vehicles prior to being administered the OMV knowledge test and the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.

38-Hour Driver’s Education Course
(14 years and 9 months to 17 years of age)

Louisiana State Law requires any teen ages 14 years & 9 months to 17 years of age who desire to obtain a driver’s license to complete and pass a 38-hours driver’s education course. The course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction, OMV knowledge test, and 8 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction.
The four-day classroom instruction is held 8am to 4pm each day. Students most be at least 15 years old to start the driving portion of the course.
*Students must obtain their T.I.P. (temporary instruction permit) from the Office of Motor Vehicles prior to being administered the OMV knowledge test and the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.

Road Skills Test

We offer the road skills test by appointment only.
An individual can take a road skills test if they meet the following requirements:

Teens:

16 years of age* – must have held a valid learners permit for a minimum of 180 days.
17 years of age* - must have valid learner's permit or have completed and passed a 38 Hour Driver's Education Course** and have a valid temporary instruction permit (T.I.P.).
18 years of age and older – must have a valid learner's permit or have completed and passed a 14 Hour Pre-Licensing Course** and have a valid temporary instruction permit (T.I.P.)

*Legal custodial parent or guardian must accompany the applicant as well as bring valid identification to sign for applicant to take the road skills test.

**Applicants that only possess a T.I.P. and did not take their course with our driving school will need to show proof of completion of required course.
